Former Oklahoma star Gerald McCoy will be released by Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers will now have enough cap space to sign the rest of their draft picks as well as shop the bargain bin after moving on from McCoy.

In Tampa Bay, McCoy was once teammates with New England defensive end Michael Bennett, whom the Patriots acquired two months ago via trade. His streak of six consecutive Pro Bowl selections ended in 2018, but he remained a productive and disruptive player, tallying six sacks and 21 quarterback hits and ranking 28th among interior defenders in Pro Football Focus' grading system. McCoy was slated to make $13 million in 2019.

Not to mention, the Bolts value more speed and athleticism up front than size and that's exactly what McCoy possesses to give him the nod over Mebane for the starting role.

The fact that he has been released should be intriguing to Browns fans because the team has been linked to McCoy for weeks - and his release would make the potential pairing that much more likely.

Ric Flair's surgery postponed due to health complications
Conrad noted that Flair wanted to do the surgery this week, instead of next week after he returned from Starrcast. In the history of wrestling Ric Flair had a promising career and active involvement in the sport.

McCoy's ability to rush the passer is one of his greatest assets.

It's a topic that was discussed at the beginning of the National Football League offseason, but could Gerald McCoy be a quality option at defensive tackle for the Eagles?

Tampa Bay apparently worked with McCoy on the matter and wants him to find a suitable home. This was the first year that he could be released without the team incurring "dead money" against the salary cap, and the move will add significantly to the team's flexibility under that cap.

The Buccaneers will say good bye to a veteran presence on defense.
