Modi's Kedarnath-Badrinath visit violation of poll code: TDP seeks action

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday saluted country's women both as candidates and voters for their participation in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Gandhi addressed a press conference nearly at the same time as Amit Shah and Modi did.

The Congress charge against Modi and Amit Shah was led by Gandhi after the PM showed up on the dais for a scheduled press conference by the BJP chief, who gave a report card on the performance of the NDA government as well as party's extensive electioneering.

"You have chosen the greatest actor as Prime Minister". And we will use their experience, Rahul said while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here. "This is the new culture of governance", PM Modi said.

Welcoming Narendra Modi to the briefing, Shah praised the people of India for supporting the BJP and Modi's leadership, voted them in 16 states and stood with Main Bhi Chowkidar campaign. And on the basis of the people's decision everything will be decided.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he never sought anything during pilgrimages a day after his Kedarnath Yatra and meditation at the shrine in the Himalayas capping months of campaigning for the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

Defending Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur's candidature, Shah said she was fielded to fight against conspiracy hatched by some people and BJP will act against Bhopal candidate after an internal probe.

Shah further said the party has worked hard for the elections which will come to an end on May 19, adding that the results will be favourable for the BJP in all the seats it is contesting. 'Even now you are not taking any action.

The TDP chief said if the telecast of Modi's activities does not stop, it could "affect the level playing field" envisaged by the MCC, which the Commission is "duty-bound to implement".

This said, Modi sat through the remaining 18 minutes of the media conference doing pretty much what he had done in the earlier part - staring broodingly in front. "When you question me, you ask me where the money for the NYAY [or the Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme] scheme is coming from", Gandhi said.
