Hot Today, Severe Storms Saturday

The chances for storms will increase throughout the afternoon with storms likely Saturday night.

The bigger story will be the temperature drop for Friday.

Thu: High: 81 Low: 60 Mostly to partly cloudy. There still remains uncertainty on if there's going to be morning storms or not and if there are storms in the morning how widespread they will be. Some of these storms could become severe.

Round one of rain is exiting the area.

More than 50 million people in the central United States are in the path of strong thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, large hail and maybe tornadoes over the next few days, forecasters said on Thursday. Storms could bring additional rains through the end of the work week, according to the weather service.

Steady rain with some storms is now pushing through southeast Wisconsin. The next concern is a major severe weather risk targeting the Southern Plains on Monday.

Severe thunderstorms warnings were also seen throughout DFW. Storms are still on track to move through between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Storms should continue tonight into Sunday, as a cold front approaches from the west and moves through our area Sunday.

But before we get there, let's talk about today. For now, plan on a stormy evening and early night ahead. Two rounds of storms will be possible on Thursday.

The NWS warned that thunderstorms were possible throughout the valley until 8 p.m. These type of severe weather events usually unfold in the late afternoon and evening hours.

The NWS predicted small hailstones, heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning, and suggested residents in affected areas take shelter when the storm hits. The tornado risk is low.
