West Bromwich Albion to speak with Chris Hughton about head coach role

Villa beat West Bromwich Albion 4-3 in a penalty shootout on Tuesday after their semi-final finished 2-2 on aggregate following West Brom's 1-0 win in the second leg.

Centreback Craig Dawson scored for West Brom with a 29th minute header.

Hughton was sacked as Brighton manager on Monday after a 17th-place finish in the Premier League and leading the Seagulls to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Very early talks over a permanent deal are thought to have taken place, though Villa's hopes of them going further nearly certainly rest on promotion.

The Villans will now face the victor of Thursday's semi-final between Leeds United and Derby County, with Dean Smith's men aiming to return to the Premier League after a three-year absence.

The agency said its new recommendations could provide the key to delaying or slowing cognitive decline or dementia . The new guideline to reduce the risk of dementia even highlighted the importance of being socially active.

The hosts held out manfully during extra-time, but Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer saved West Brom's first two penalties of the shootout from Mason Holgate and Ahmed Hegazi.

Jonathan Kodjia, meanwhile, will presumably be working on his dab in preparation for the final on May 27 at Wembley.

"There's obviously a lot of luck involved but wow - we practise penalties, so I think I must've faced 100 a day the last few days", Steer said.

The Baggies were defeated at The Hawthorns by Aston Villa on penalties despite winning the second leg of their playoff tie 1-0, with caretaker manager Jimmy Shan overseeing proceedings following the sacking of Darren Moore in March.

The Championship playoff final is regarded as the most lucrative match in world football with last year's clash between Fulham and Villa worth about £170 million (RM915.3 million) even if, as in Fulham's case, the victor is relegated after one season in the top flight.
