Antoine Griezmann confirms decision to leave Atletico Madrid

Griezmann now has a £108million (€125million) release clause, a fee which was decided after he penned a new five-year deal last summer.

Atletico forward Griezmann has always been targeted by the Nou Camp outfit but the Frenchman rejected them last summer after releasing a video on his decision to stay in Madrid.

The move comes amid rumours of a new bid from Barcelona for Griezmann, who turned down the Blaugrana's advances last summer before going on to help France lift the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Atletico confirmed on Tuesday that Griezmann will leave at the end of the season and the France global posted a video shortly after.

The forward bid his farewells in a heartfelt video posted on social media, saying: 'It's been an incredible five years; Thank you very much for everything, I take you in the heart'.

He said: "Barcelona are now ready to pay €125M release clause for Antoine Griezmann".

Speaking directly to the Atlético fans, the 28-year-old said: "I wanted to tell you that I've made the decision to leave to experience new things and have new challenges".

Since 2014, he's been at Atletico and has scored 133 goals in 252 games for the club, winning three trophies.

"I have enjoyed a lot, I have left everything in the field, I have tried to behave well, I have tried to give joy to the people who have come to the Metropolitano and also away from home, and I only have gratitude for all of you".
