Hamilton beats Bottas at Spanish GP for 5th Mercedes 1-2

"It is not as much fun as when you are competing against another team".

But the Brit has pledged his loyalty to his current team.

"We now have two days of testing here that will be very important for us".

And, in a touching gesture by the sport's world champions, they have flown in a Mercedes F1 auto to Harry's house.

Hamilton hinted that he wouldn't make that mistake again in Spain, and he got some help from a poor getaway by Bottas to overtake him in the opening meters en route to winning the race at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit for a third consecutive year. Do I plan on going elsewhere? "I haven't made any plans for the future".

"But the actual truth is the last few weeks of Harry's life have been marked by awful pain and suffering that no human, not least a five-year-old boy, should endure".

"For now I'm just enjoying driving with this team".

"It is incredible what we are achieving together. I think this is the strongest team there is and has ever been and it would be hard to break that".

A points haul of 98 points is the second best in Premier League history, only behind the 100 points they accumulated last season. Those regulations restrict teams from both taking on too much debt and not spending more than they bring in.

After Toto Wolff stoked speculation linking Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari, the Briton stressed his focus was on Mercedes breaking records. Hamilton and Leclerc pitted under the safety auto, re-joining the track in 1st and 4th place respectively, while Bottas, Verstappen and Vettel had already pitted before the safety-car period.

"We will talk about it internally", stated Vettel regarding the situation. This is officially your last race as CEO.

"You're not the first one to ask me that question, but I'm in an awkward position. actually, I'm not in an awkward position".

"I don't know Lewis, but I think what we've seen is what a genuine, decent, lovely person he is".

Mark Webber told Wide World of Sports recently that Verstappen had matured significantly in 2019, and that's been reflected in his results, consistently getting the best out of a vehicle that simply doesn't have the pace of Mercedes.

They arranged for the vehicle to be taken to his home in Merstham, Surrey, along with the winning trophy and Hamilton's steering wheel.

Three years later Hamilton says that he has matured and that the mild-mannered Bottas is as close as it comes to having an ideal driving partner. "I'll be sending him a message shortly after this that he'll get, and we're going to try and do something special for him". We've sent him a card and a cap, and before the race I was chilled but was looking for some inspiration, something to grab onto.

"You went through a storm in 2010, 11 and '12 when the vehicle was going backwards and even in '13 it was not always great".
