IOF kill Palestinian protester in Gaza

Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza fired hundreds of rockets at Israel beginning on Saturday, after Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in two separate incidents on May 3.

The United States' Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt blasted the UN Security Council Thursday for "rehashing exhausted talking points" about Israel and urged them to support the Trump administration's upcoming Mideast peace plan between Israelis and Palestinians.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Health Ministry in Gaza told reporters that Abdulla Abdel Aal, a 24-year-old from the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, died after he was shot by Israeli soldiers in his abdomen.

Since March 30 past year, the Palestinians in Gaza have been holding weekly rallies to demand the right to return for those driven out of their homeland by Israeli aggression and an end to the Israeli siege on the enclave.

"We genuinely hope both the Israelis and Palestinians will take a real look at our vision for peace when we release it, before any unilateral steps are taken", he said.

The truce agreement was announced by Palestinian factions early Monday.

The Palestinians have dismissed U.S. efforts since President Donald Trump decided in 2017 to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and declare Jerusalem Israel's capital.

Israeli authorities have further warned that the fighting could resume soon after in the absence of measures aimed at easing humanitarian assistance to those in the Gaza Strip.

Israel and Hamas have fought three large-scale wars since 2008.

Israel withdrew all its civilians and military from the Gaza Strip in 2005 but has said that as long as terror activity continues, it must keep an especially close watch on land and sea crossings. Rights organizations condemn the blockade as a punishment for Gaza's 2 million residents.

The UN has said that the territory will become unlivable by 2020.
