Davenport Chef Cooking for Volunteers After His Restaurant Floods

Ahead of this historic flooding, in the midst of the heavy rains, hundreds of volunteers worked to reinforce the levees and barriers, but it wasn't enough to keep the mighty Mississippi River at bay.

Below is a listing of river stages and forecasts compiled by the Chicago National Weather Service office.

The river level is projected to reach 8 feet above the flood stage, or around 1 foot shy of the record, at Morris by noon Thursday. The river is expected to be 12.5 feet above the flood stage, also bumping it into major flooding. "And we have just not had anything like this happen before", said Nicole Gleason, of Davenport Public Works.

Unlike cities such as Muscatine downstream, Davenport doesn't have a permanent floodwall, opting instead for an open, picturesque riverfront.

Arsenal take healthy lead as Alexandre Lacazette stops the rot
The chances continued to come for Arsenal´s front two as Aubameyang volleyed into the ground and over just before the break. Ramsey has scored 64 goals in 359 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side.

"We live with this river", he said.

Officials in Davenport, Iowa, say they're not expecting flooding that swept into a section of downtown Tuesday to spread much beyond the couple of blocks already under water.

The Memorial Bridge connecting Quincy, Illinois, and West Quincy, Missouri, closed Wednesday, forcing all traffic to take the only other bridge in Quincy. The river was expected to crest at about 14 feet at about 2 a.m. Friday, according to the NWS. Emergency Management Director John Hark said the town plans to add 2 feet of additional height, probably using sandbags, on top of the levee. "The river's going to do what it wants to do, and we've got a lot of water coming".

The flood warning for the Yellow River in Plymouth will remain in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday, while the flood warning for the Tippecanoe River in Marshall County will stay in place until 5 p.m. Monday, the weather service said Thursday.
