Yankees’ Aaron Judge out long-term with ‘pretty significant strain’ in abdomen

After Aaron Judge's injury, there are now only three outfielders on the roster, so you can expect a move to be made to get a fourth outfielder on the bench.

Despite the massive slew of injuries, the Yankees still sit just one game under.500 through the first 19 games of the season.

After hitting a single in the sixth, Judge was seen clearly wincing when he got to first base before leaving the game.

New York Yankees OF Aaron Judge is now waiting on an MRI this weekend after injuring his oblique while taking a swing. They now have 13 players on the IL, with only CC Sabathia having returned, although Gary Sanchez is expected back Wednesday in Anaheim.

Judge broke his right wrist when hit by a pitch by the Royals' Jakob Junis last July 26 and did not return until September 14.

Mike Tauchman and DJ LeMahieu hit New York's first set of back-to-back homers this season when they homered into the right-center field seats to extend the lead to 6-0.

Masahiro Tanaka (2-1) pitched seven innings of one-run ball.

Boone lost his mind - walking onto the field and berating umpires with expletives - after Torres' three-run home run was overturned and made into an out. He took a shutout into the sixth before allowing a homer to Whit Merrifield to start the inning.

Shortly afterward, the Kansas City Royals argued the ruling on the field, as a fan seemed to interfere with Alex Gordon's attempt to catch the flyball - which was otherwise earmarked for the seats.

-Pitcher Gio Gonzalez opted out of his contract with the Yankees and intends to become a free agent, MLB.com reported.

Sanchez, out since April 10 with a strained left calf, is scheduled to play a rehabilitation game Monday with Class A Charleston and could be activated before Wednesday's game at the Los Angeles Angels. RHP Jorge Lopez (0-2, 4.30 ERA) starts for Kansas City.
