Major penalty almost comes to haunt Vegas Golden Knights

Major penalty almost comes to haunt Vegas Golden Knights

San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski had to be helped off the ice in the third period of Tuesday's Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights after his head hit the ice after he was cross-checked by Cody Eakin during a faceoff.

And then things got wild. Making matters worse, Couture was also given a penalty on the play and Vegas scored to take a 4-3 lead on the ensuing power play.

The come-from-behind, Game 7 win propelled the Sharks into the Western Conference semifinals.

"It's a f-ing joke".

"They called five minutes for that?" "Like, seriously, what is that?" It's so disappointing. The game is not even close, it's 3-0.

The Golden Knights built on that lead and led 3-0 early in the third when everything changed with the penalty. But a five? For something you don't even see? You just called the outcome. "It's embarrassing. That's what it is".

The game wasn't quite over as Marchessault tied it with 47 seconds left in regulation but San Jose still prevailed when Barclay Goodrow scored the series-clincher 18:19 into overtime.

Pavelski could not brace himself after contact with Stastny and struck his head on the ice.

Royal baby watch: Meghan's mom Doria has arrived in the UK
It comes after it was revealed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering "fleeing the UK" in favour of Hollywood. Last month, The Mail on Sunday reported that the couple will be hiring a traditional nanny after the birth of their child.

Marchessault compared the decision to the no-call on a pass interference play that cost the New Orleans Saints a possible trip to the Super Bowl in the National Football League earlier this year. "That power-play unit, it won us the game".

"If it was stolen?"

NOTES: St. Louis also had four goals on one power play vs. Los Angeles on April 27, 1998. They're a great hockey team.

"You see our leader go down, he's out cold on the ice and it was kind of like he was seizuring up a little bit so tough to see", teammate Logan Couture said. If you want to call the cross-check, fine, call it. And he went down, and I really hope he's OK and he comes back. Than in a reversal from Game 6 when Vegas controlled the shot clock but the Sharks came out as winners, the Golden Knights struck first midway through the period after San Jose was called for icing.

Here are Marchessault's full comments on the issue, per Wyshynski.
