New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom headed for MRI on right elbow

The reigning NL Cy Young victor was set to pitch in the second game of the set on Saturday after having his original scheduled start pushed back from Friday due to an illness.

"He played catch yesterday, he came in on the off-day - he played a little catch and started feeling it a little bit", Callaway said.

That's a complete about-face from two days ago when deGrom felt soreness in his right elbow while tossing in between starts. Lindor sat out Cleveland's first 18 games with a sprained ankle he suffered during spring training in Arizona while recovering from an offseason calf injury. DeGrom was scratched from his Saturday start against the Cardinals.

"He's in a good frame of mind right now", Callaway said following the game Friday. "I'm not really anxious about the spot it's in, it's just more being smart and not trying to go out there and do too much too early and risk a more serious injury".

Qualcomm Cease Fire Tops Big Week in Apple News
Last year, with Apple and Qualcomm suing each other, Apple stuck with Intel for the part and expects to do the same this year. During a press meet, Ben Wood said that the present settlement is a huge achievement for Qualcomm.

DeGrom will be eligible to return on Friday, April 26 for the start of New York's series against the Brewers.

Such news about an ace would be alarming for any team, but especially so for the Mets, who are built around their starting pitching and rewarded deGrom with a five-year contract extension worth $137.5 million last month. But he lost his past two starts while allowing a total of nine runs on 13 hits - including five homers - and five walks in nine innings.

Mikolas made his lone appearance against the Mets in 2012, when, as a member of the San Diego Padres, he tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

The 30-year-old deGrom won the Cy Young last season with a 1.70 ERA in 32 starts.
