Three of the four children of Danish fashion retail and property tycoon Anders Holch Povlsen have died in the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka that killed at least 290, a spokesman for Povlsen has confirmed.

The family was visiting the country over the Easter holiday.

"Unfortunately, we can confirm the reports", said a spokesman for Bestseller Fashion Group, which is 100 percent owned by the Povlsen family.

A few days ago, one of Povlsen's children, Alma, had uploaded an image of her three siblings, Astrid, Agnes and Alfred, lounging at a poolside. "We have no further comment and we ask that the family's privacy is respected at this time".

Eight Brits were killed in the co-ordinated suicide bombings and 24 people have since been arrested.

Mr. Povlsen owns the worldwide clothing chain Bestseller and is also the biggest single shareholder in clothing giant Asos and is the UK's largest private landowner, according to the Times newspaper.
