Top Democrat says he can foresee impeachment proceedings

Warren told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on Friday that she read the full report and insisted it wasn't anything personal regarding Trump, with whom she has clashed repeatedly.

Warren has barely discussed Russian Federation or the Mueller probe on the campaign trail, and her own team says she hardly gets questioned by voters about the probe that has been the fixation of Washington and the media for two years. One official said former Trump lawyers John Dowd and Ty Cobb encouraged such cooperation in order to complicate Mueller's push for an interview with Trump himself.

On Saturday evening, President Trump fired back at Sen.

Mueller identified at least 10 instances of potential obstruction of justice by the president, fanning calls for Trump's impeachment from progressives such as 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren and freshman Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Huckabee quote tweeted Romney's statement about the report, saying he wasn't as distressed by Romney's treatment of Trump as he was that Romney could have been a Republican president.

"Let me assure you that whatever the issue and challenge we face, the Congress of the United States will honor its oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States to protect our democracy", she told reporters.

The poll, conducted Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, was the first to measure America's response after the Justice Department released special counsel Robert Mueller's 448-page report, which detailed a number of times that the president may have interfered with the investigation.

Democrats, though, may see greater power in pursuing an investigative effort, leaving impeachment on the shelf as a break-glass option.

Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, are wary of rushing to action, but have not definitively ruled out impeachment.

The senator is likely hoping that demanding Trump be removed from office via impeachment might make her attempt to unseat him in a presidential election a little easier.

Collins called the report's details of Trump trying to get Mueller fired "disturbing" and "an unflattering portrayal of the president", according to Maine Public Radio.

"This isn't about politics", Warren said.

That's the same day Attorney General William Barr is to testify before a Senate committee and one day before Barr is to appear before Nadler's panel.

That is the main takeaway from a new CNN report on the president's post-Mueller mood. "That means the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States".
