House Democratic leader Hoyer: impeachment 'not worthwhile'

Attorney General William Barr has already been invited to testify before Nadler's committee and Nadler said he will likely extend an invitation for Mueller to testify before his committee.

Mueller did not establish that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russians but did find "multiple acts by the President that were capable of exerting undue influence over law enforcement investigations". "Once elected, Donald Trump obstructed the investigation into that attack".

The Michigan congresswoman cited a report by the watchdog group the Center for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington detailing the frequency with which the president, federal officials, foreign governments and special interest groups have patronized Trump properties.

Telling MSNBC on Friday, a voter in Manchester, New Hamshire said in regard to Mueller's report, "There's nothing in here that shows the president of the United States is guilty of anything". The letter was signed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and the ranking members of the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, Sens. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, also said, "Impeachment is still off the table".

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro said Friday on CNN that it would be "perfectly reasonable for Congress to open up those proceedings". And expect the tension between Democratic leadership and the party's progressive wing to escalate.

Hoyer warned last month that impeachment would take Democrats' "eye off the ball". I want to hear what Mueller has to say. "The first step? The House Judiciary Committee launching an investigation into whether Trump committed impeachable offenses".

Two other freshmen Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, also threw their support behind Tlaib's call for impeachment hearings.
