France pays tribute to the firefighters who saved the Notre Dame Cathedral

Investigators in Paris said Thursday they believe an electrical short-circuit is most likely the cause behind the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral.

The French judicial police official, who spoke anonymously about the investigation, seemed to confirm the prevailing theory that the inferno that toppled the Gothic masterpiece's spire and reduced its centuries-old roof to cinders was not intentionally caused.

It comes after the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, asked cathedrals and churches across England to toll their bells for seven minutes as a mark of respect after the 850-year-old Paris cathedral was ravaged by a blaze.

Catholics and tourists who can no longer approach Notre-Dame after Monday's devastating fire will be consoled by an "ephemeral cathedral" made of wood until the stricken cathedral reopens, its chief priest has announced.

Bells at all of the churches and cathedrals across France rang out in unison on Wednesday night in honor of the Notre Dame Cathedral.

President Macron vowed to restore the cathedral within five years, however experts say it could take up to 15 years.

France is paying tribute Thursday to the hundreds of firefighters who saved the world-renowned Notre Dame Cathedral from utter collapse.

As Trump attacks Omar, progressive Democrats unhappy with Pelosi's defense
Ocasio-Cortez did not publicly respond to Pelosi's latest jab. "That we have to...go down the mainstream". I get why Pelosi would want to downplay it but that doesn't make downplaying it less disingenuous.

Monaco is "mobilizing" as a community to assist in the fix of Notre Dame - "the emblematic heart" of Paris.

They were also securing the support structure above one of Notre Dame's rose windows with wooden planks.

Universal Music France President Olivier Nusse said: "We had to help the cathedral once again stand as a symbol of French culture across the world".

A huge crane and renovation teams worked at the site Thursday, after authorities warned that some of the structure remains at risk.

First responders also rescued numerous important relics and works of art inside the cathedral.

President Emmanuel Macron held a ceremony at the Elysee Palace to thank the hundreds of firefighters who battled the fast-moving fire at Notre Dame for nine hours, preventing the structure's destruction and rescuing numerous important relics held inside. Top government ministers will also take part in the event at the presidential palace in Paris.

Also on Thursday, Paris City Hall hosted a ceremony in honor of the firefighters that included a Bach violin concert and readings from French writer Victor Hugo's 19th-century literary classic, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
