BCB announces Bangladesh's 15-member squad for ICC World Cup 2019

Abu Jayed Rahi came as the only surprise of the World Cup squad.

Jayed has appeared in Twenty20 internationals and Tests for his nation and though he is yet to feature in a one-day worldwide, the 25-year-old swing bowler has been included for the upcoming 50-over showpiece in England. Taskin was on the mend after his ankle injury, but failed to prove his fitness in the Dhaka Premier League match he played last week.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named Mortaza's deputy while Mushfiqur Rahim is the wicketkeeper.

Mosaddek Hossain who last played an ODI for Bangladesh returns to national colors after his impressive form with the bat in the Dhaka Premier League where he now averages just over 47 runs. Before that, they will play two practice matches against Pakistan and India on May 26 and 28, respectively.

Mahmudullah fell victim to a shoulder injury when the side square off against New Zealand.

Senior pro Shakib Al Hasan will be the vice-captain to Mashrafe Mortaza in Bangladesh's 15-man squad, named on Tuesday by Chief selectors Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar.

Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem catches fire
Videos shared on social media showed smoke rising from the top of the Marwani Prayer room also known as Solomon's Stables . A fire broke out at the sacred site just as a much larger blaze engulfed the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

"Mosaddek did well in domestic tournaments". Liton Das will join Tamim Iqbal at the top of the order.

However, when it comes to the bowling department, it is certainly not going to be their strength in this World Cup.

Among bowlers, skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and Mustafizur Rahman are likely to headline the pace department, along with Rubel Hossain.

Bangladesh will face South Africa in its first match on June 2 at The Oval as all 10 teams are scheduled to play each other in a round-robin format.

The BCB also announced a 17-man squad for the tri-nation series in Ireland which takes place ahead of the World Cup in May.

"As the World Cup will be played in England and Wales, so we have concentrated on involvement". Even at 25, Jayed is yet to make his ODI debut, but he seems to have impressed the Board enough to warrant a slot in the World Cup 2019 team.
