Clinton also echoed a speech from earlier in the year when she urged that a woman's leadership is often necessary to influence change, commending Pelosi for "Never [being] one to back down from a bully".

Ocasio-Cortez, 29, a self-described democratic socialist, defeated 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley in a Democratic primary before winning New York's 14th District last November. What do Pelosi and Bustos do in 2021 if Trump's still president but their caucus has shifted further left on balance? 'That is not the view of the Democratic Party'.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office, David Lidington, hosted the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, at Lancaster House on 15 April 2019.

'You have these wings- AOC, and her group on one side-' Stahl begins asking her.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday maintained that Democrats need to "hold the center" to succeed and waved off the left flank of the Democratic Party - represented by freshman lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - as "like five people".

"For [Pelosi] now to simply reject out of hand when the president actually has said, 'Okay, let's look at ways we can come closer, ' it shows you they're just not interested in negotiating", the Wyoming congresswoman continued.

Videos shared on social media showed smoke rising from the top of the Marwani Prayer room also known as Solomon's Stables . A fire broke out at the sacred site just as a much larger blaze engulfed the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

During Sunday's interview, Stahl did press Pelosi about critics who have said, "it seems like right now nothing is getting done" with her at the helm.

Earlier this month, Pelosi also appeared to take a subtle swipe at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as discussing members of Congress with large Twitter followings.

Ocasio-Cortez did not publicly respond to Pelosi's latest jab. "That we have to...go down the mainstream".

To drive the point home, Pelosi picked up her water glass and added, "This glass of water would win with a "D" next to its name in those districts".

But she made explicitly clear that new Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - an emerging force in USA politics who is often simply referred to as AOC - and fellow young progressives elected in 2018 represented only the margins of American society.

I get why Pelosi would want to downplay it but that doesn't make downplaying it less disingenuous.
