Socialist Bernie Sanders' tax returns show millionaire status

During the town hall, which aired from 6:30 p.m. ET - 7:30 p.m. ET, Fox News delivered 2,554,000 average viewers and 489,000 in the age range 25-54, which is the most watched town hall to date during this pre-election season.

At the Monday town hall, he defended his proposed single-payer health system, "Medicare for All", saying that while it would end private insurance coverage, patients still would have the ability to choose their own doctors and hospitals.

Sanders, 77, faces competition from a large Democratic primary field dominated by candidates who may have more appeal with the party's rising base of young people, non-white voters and women. "Bernie Sanders for two hours - Wow!" The "Stop Sanders" Democrats are led by the likes of liberal organizer David Brock and Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, who fear Sanders could derail their efforts to defeat President Trump.

In an interview with the New York Times, he said his tax returns would be "more boring" because he's not a billionaire with investments in Saudi Arabia or "wherever he has investments, all over the world". Sanders faced pressure to release his returns this year as Democrats have increasingly made an issue of US President Donald Trump's refusal to release returns. The tax returns released on Monday showed Sanders paid a 26 percent effective tax rate on his adjusted gross income in 2018.

Sanders past year made $110 in music royalties, presumably for his 1987 folk album, "We Shall Overcome", and an additional $1,810 from his 1997 memoir, "Outsider in the House", which was published by Verso.

The Celtics outscored IN 26-8 IN the third with a flurry of three-pointers on 9/21 overall shooting, while the Pacers were 2/19. And this team could stand to get more from guys like Gordon Hayward, who only had 10 points or Terry Rozier, who only had five.

The release confirms Mr Sanders's income crossed the $1m (€885,000) threshold in 2016 and 2017, although he reported lower earnings in his most recent return.

The returns show that the couple earned almost $2.8 million in the three years since Sanders' first presidential campaign catapulted him to national political prominence. At the time Jane Sanders said they used profits from the sale of her share of a family property in ME to purchase the summer home.

"Pfft, come on. I paid the taxes that I owe", Sanders shot back.

Warren released 10 years of her tax returns last year and followed with an 11th year of released returns last week. Clinton, by contrast, released 8 years worth of complete returns. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota released 12 years of tax returns through 2017 earlier this month.

Sanders campaign manager Faiz Shakir brushed off those suggestions, telling CNN the candidate's personal wealth had "zero impact" on his policies.

"If anyone thinks I should apologize for writing a bestselling book, I'm sorry, I'm not gonna do it", he added.
