Ciara's Hubby Russell Wilson Becomes Highest-Paid NFL Player in History

The Seahawks and their star quarterback reached a deal extremely late Monday night, which came right before Wilson's self-imposed deadline of midnight PST Monday for a new contract. National Football League insider Ian Rapoport tweeted that Wilson also has a no-trade stipulation in his contract, as well. Instead of calling his bluff, the Seahawks gave him what he asked for. He is set to make an annual average salary of $35 million per season.

And leave it to Wilson to involve his wife, Ciara, and social media in the announcement in the wee hours Tuesday morning.

Peter King of NBC Sports reported Monday that Wilson had hoped to get a contract that didn't have a set amount of money he would be paid.

"I'm going to see y'all in the morning".

The average annual value of the contract, $35 million, pushes Wilson, 30, past Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the highest-paid player in the league.

Three Things We Learnt From Watching Manchester City Win Again
Klopp wanted me to come to Borussia Dortmund, and they played the kind of football that I enjoy. I don't see us slowing down now. "Why can't Spurs win the Champions League? ".

So what's next? Well, Seattle has three big-time performers who are also looking for contract extensions in the next calendar year: Bobby Wagner, Frank Clark and Jarran Reed. It will be even more so on Seahawks' front office to build a team around Wilson that he can lead back to the promised land.

It keeps Wilson, a five-time Pro Bowler and the quarterback of the only Super Bowl-winning team in Seahawks history. Rumors began to swirl about a possible exit strategy if the team had to veer too far off its old strategy of building an elite defense around him, but then the two sides agreed on a four-year deal worth $140 million per season.

Wilson and his agent, Mark Rodgers, had imposed a deadline on April 15th as the final time they would address a new contract with the Seahawks ahead of the final year of his existing contract. He has thrown for 25,624 yards and 196 touchdowns in his seven-year career. The Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott is in line for a new deal, while the Eagles are already working toward signing Carson Wentz to a long-term deal, according to GM Howie Roseman.

Ever since Wilson arrived, they've won at least nine games every year and made the playoff each year except for 2017.

He's also been extremely durable, never missing a game while playing through significant knee, ankle and shoulder injuries. He announced news of an agreement on Instagram. "I'm excited about that", Wilson said.
