Alexander Ovechkin Knocks Out 19-Year-Old Hurricanes Player In Big Fight

Svechnikov, the Hurricanes' 2nd-overall selection in the 2018 entry draft, fought fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin in the first period of Monday's Game 3 in Carolina - and took the worst of it.

Following Carolina's 5-0 victory on home ice to get themselves back into the first round matchup, the health of their young teammate was top of mind for the Hurricanes. Svechnikov got a few jabs in before Ovechkin dropped Svechnikov with three hard rights. Now, when things get underway for their next game on Thursday, the Hurricanes will be without the services of Svechnikov, who was knocked out during the fight.

Carolina said Svechnikov would miss the rest of the game with an upper-body injury.

Svechnikov, who had two goals in his playoff debut last week, was helped to the locker room and didn't return. However, Washington is still leading the series 2-1. He asked me to fight and said, 'Let's go.' I hope he's OK. "... It's a little bit tough, because I just heard Ovi talk about it; he said our guy challenged him". It was his first in the playoffs, while Svechnikov had not been in a fight all season.

A waiter at the restaurant where they had dinner beforehand told The New York Post that he did not know if they had been drinking. Students say it has become a rite of passage to climb the tower and snap pictures before graduating, according to The Observer .

Svechnikov's head hit the ice on the way down.

A different angle of the tilt displays the gruesome moment a little clearer. If you watch the video, he slashes him twice - Ovi, whack, whack - then Svech gets him back. He's played 90 games.

"So that stuff bothers me, because that's ..."

Brind'Amour said that though the Canes are exercising caution, Svechnikov appears fine. Ovechkin won in an absolute landslide. "I'll just leave it at that", he said. Brown, who had 19 goals and 35 points in 70 games in the minors, has one goal and one assist in 28 National Hockey League games.
