Fordham Student In Serious Condition After Fall From School’s Bell Tower

A Fordham University student fell 140 feet from the top of the school's bell tower early Sunday, police said. The senior, who was critically injured, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. However, according to the Post, the president of Fordham confirmed her death.

The tower is off limits to students, according to the university.

"There are no words sufficient to describe the loss of someone so young and full of promise - and mere weeks from graduation", McShane said.

The Sun reported another student, only identified by the first name Dave, claimed Ms Monfries and her friends had dined at a restaurant where he worked shortly before the accident.

Reports added that Monfries had hailed from Portland, Oregon, before attending the school. It was reported that Sydney may have been participating in a "rite of passage" ceremony or event. "I also urge you to be kind to one another, and to yourselves, in the days that follow".

Students say it has become a rite of passage to climb the tower and snap pictures before graduating, according to The Observer.

Crystal Palace v Man City, Premier League
One of Liverpool's big boosts heading into the match is the return of the marauding Scottish left wing back Andrew Robertson . Two points still separate them at the top of the table and City still have that game in hand.

The New York Police Department said Sydney went to the campus clock tower with her friends at around 3am on Sunday to get a view of the skyline. They were not identified.

A waiter at the restaurant where they had dinner beforehand told The New York Post that he did not know if they had been drinking.

Sydney Monfries, 22, died on Sunday after breaking into the Bell Tower at the university's campus with a group of friends in the early hours of the morning. She was slated to graduate next month with a major in journalism.

Monfries fell over 12m from the bell tower's staircase. That's part of the allure for some students, The Observer reported. "I would say the other two reasons for going up are the awesome view of the entire campus from up there and the ability to brag about doing it". "And they were like trying to get good views of the city", student Antonia Greene said. I'll never forget all of our memories back when you lived in NJ and I'll forever cherish them! I'm not sure if it's a tradition. "They are always doing some kind of cleaning or renovation", she said.

And despite the tower being off-limits to students, that hasn't stopped them from climbing it. "They were like, 'We're seniors, let's go!'" he said.

'Recently people heard the door was open or found a passageway.
