Kucherov could face suspension for hit on Nutivaara

While this surge ahead is clearly good news for Columbus, just past year the Blue Jackets were up 2-0 in the first round against the Washington Capitals on the road before losing the next four games and the series. Kucherov was the one to initially trip Nutivaara to the ice, and while Nutivaara attempted to regain his footing, he remained in a defenseless position until Kucherov drove him into the boards. We just have to focus on Game 3. Victor Hedman and Josh Anderson were also ejected from the game in the ensuing scrum.

Losing Kucherov for a game is a big blow to Tampa, whose offense is not keeping pace with Columbus.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety made the announcement Saturday afternoon. Cooper said he's not expected to return for Game 3. But Kucherov is out after what the National Hockey League called a "dangerous hit on a player in an exposed position".

The NHL-best Lightning now face the tall task of climbing out of an 0-2 series deficit without the help of their best player and the league's likely Hart Trophy victor.

Man Attempts to Light Jacket on Fire Outside the White House
A nearby block of 17th Street was closed as well, and at least portions of the White House complex were locked down. The man was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Matt Duchene's four points led Columbus to a 5-1 win in Tampa on Friday. Sure, Tampa Bay can hope they take a page from the Capitals' playbook and come back to beat the Blue Jackets after dropping the first two games at home.

Kucherov finished the year with 41 goals and 87 assists.

After leading the league in points during the regular season, the Lightning are on the verge of a historically insurmountable first-round series deficit.
