Samsung announces U.S. launch dates for Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 5G

Never mind that Samsung Electronics Co., the global smartphone maker leader as ranked by device shipments, reported a 60 percent slump in quarterly operating income a few days ago - the worst such drop in more than four years.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available online from T-Mobile starting at 9:00pm PT on April 25th and in select T-Mobile stores on April 26th. It's headed for an April 26 release in the United States and comes at a time when Samsung's global smartphone shipments overall have actually been slipping - hitting 290 million units in 2018, for example, down from nearly 318 million units the year before. It's also an entirely new form factor, one that just might define the future of smartphones. This fall nicely in place with previous reports we've heard that pre-orders might start mid-April, with a May 16 availability.

While the release notes from Samsung don't give too much away, Reddit users who have received the update on their S10 and S10 Plus handsets are claiming the speed of the fingerprint scanner has been improved.

The videos, embedded below, highlight some of the best Galaxy Fold features such as App Continuity.

The high-end specs of the Galaxy Fold don't stop there, as it's also packing a whopping 12GB of RAM and 512GB of built-in storage.
