Former Texas representative Beto O'Rourke, who is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, on Thursday compared President Donald Trump to the Third Reich, referring to the regime of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler who presided over the Holocaust.

Bernie Sanders said felons should be allowed to vote while in prison, while on the campaign trail Saturday in Iowa. You're paying a price, you committed a crime, you're in jail.

"I think that is absolutely the direction we should go", Sanders said at a town hall in Iowa, according to the Des Moines Register.

It is usually considered a cause among Democrats and not among Republicans, though the added aspect of voting from within prison is likely Sanders way of stepping out of the pack in the 2020 field.

Thirteen states and Washington, D.C. now specifically prohibit felons from voting only while incarcerated.

But she brushed off the demonstration, tweeting that she would "work tirelessly" to fix the "broken immigration system". Customs and Border Protection (CBP) commissioner Kevin McAleenan to run DHS on an acting basis.

"I'm afraid you may be getting your information wrong", said Sanders.

Warren and others were asked the same question as Sanders - whether they would support extending voting rights to felons - but even Warren, who is racing to be the most far left of the remaining candidates, demurred from suggesting that felons should be allowed to vote in prison. "I believe in that, yes, I do".

Bernie Sanders wants felons to have a say, too.

In Iowa, voting rights are not now restored automatically.

"But somebody told me about your sign, so we came up with a counter-proposal", he said as he lifted up his own sign.

"I compared the rhetoric that the President has employed to rhetoric that you might've heard during the Third Reich", O'Rourke told a reporter, following a meet and greet at Morningside College in Sioux City. And former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke, like Sanders, was in Iowa.
