Bartomeu wants Messi to stay at Barca forever

Bartomeu wants Messi to stay at Barca forever

"I believe he still has many years in front of him and in the coming months we will sit down with him so that he has many more years at Barcelona". But Bartomeu believes that Barcelona's most famous adopted son still has "many years" left, while his ties to the Catalans will continue beyond playing.

Iniesta was offered a lifetime contract by the club, which allowed the player to call time on his stay there, and Bartomeu hasn't ruled out the same being given to Messi.

"His relationship with Barca will last forever".

"We want him (Messi) to have a really long career so we can keep on enjoying him", he told ESPN FC.

"Lionel has crossed the borders of clubs".

Messi joined Barcelona as a 13-year-old and Bartomeu is willing to doing anything it takes to ensure that he remains a one-club man forever.

House of Commons sitting suspended due to water leak
But when Madders finished, the deputy speaker Lindsay Hoyle told MPs he was suspending the sitting pending fix work on the leak. The House of Lords, also undisturbed by the leak, was debating whether to back a Bill to prevent a no-deal Brexit .

He also suggested that should he return it will not be a as a manager "I think he has already said this, he has said that he cannot see himself managing Barça again, but he could always return as a director of football".

Can Barcelona ever dream of allowing Lionel Messi out of the club?

He still fondly remembers that goal against the Spanish side in the thrilling 3-3 draw against them at the Nou Camp, in the group stages of the 1998/99 Champions League campaign. "We want Messi to always be at Barca, whether that's playing or linked to the club (when he's retired)".

"Messi changed completely the sense of Barca", the president added.

"We invest in young players, on home-grown players from La Masia, but also on bringing players from other clubs, just to keep this level of excellence".

"I always said I wanted to play in Argentine football one day, I don't know if it will happen but I have it in my mind".
