Lil Nas X Taps Billy Ray Cyrus for ‘Old Town Road (Remix)’

Billboard may have blocked Lil Nas X's viral hit "Old Town Road" from the Country charts, but a legend of the genre is co-signing the 19-year-old from Atlanta.

Last week, Billboard drew heavy criticism after Rolling Stone noticed it had attempted to quietly remove the country rap smash off its Hot Country Songs chart.

Lil Nas X has described the song as "country-trap", a genre for which there is no chart... yet. "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus hopped on the song's remix. Don't worry, though; Billy Ray Cyrus said "hold my beer" and yeehaw'd his way right into that studio for a duet with Lil Nas X in one of the greatest remixes to date.

Komodo Island Is Closing To Tourists Because People Keep Stealing Dragons
Police commissioner Rofiq Ripto Himawan said buyers typically use the dragons to produce medicine. Officials did not announce when Komodo Island would be open to the public again.

So far there's no official word on whether the remixed version will be eligible for inclusion in Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. And before it's upward trajectory on the chart Billboard agreed at that stage it was a country song. Yes, the remix is better still than the original (yeehaw), but Cyrus' contribution is also a middle finger to the country music gatekeepers who rejected the song in the first place. Listen to the remix with Billy Ray Cyrus below. "The guy made his records in Memphis where rock and roll was happening - he's got his hair slicked back, he's singing about sex, drugs and rock and roll".

"The song is country trap". "I believe whenever you're trying something new, it's always going to get some kind of bad reception". "Think like there is no box.' #HorsesInTheBack", he tweeted on March 27, referencing the lyrics of Lil Nas X's song. Most importantly, it's a victory for Lil Nas X, who has remained remarkably cool about this whole thing.
