Xiaomi reveals 100-watt charging and it destroys the next best solution

The specific details of Super Charge Turbo are yet to be revealed by the company.

In the same video, Xiaomi compares the 100W fast charging technology with Oppo's 50W fast charging tech. The Oppo Find X is compatible with 50W SuperVOOC.

It seems very unlikely smartphone manufacturers will start making thicker phones again, and battery technology moves at a snail's pace, so in order to make our phones work for longer, faster charging seems to be the focus. Then, leaving the phone on charge for an extra 10 minutes will bring the charge up to 100%, meaning owners could fully charge their devices in just 17 minutes.

The Xiaomi smartphone on the test bench has a 4000 mAh battery, whereas the Oppo smartphone has a 3500 mAh battery with Super VOOC fast charging technology. That might change in the future, as Xiaomi's engineers have reportedly developed a much faster charging solution than what OPPO has to offer. In the same amount of time, the 3,700mAh battery on the OPPO smartphone only managed to load 65 percent.

Lu Weibing, head of Redmi products has now additionally revealed that the brand will be the first to mass produce this new 100W Super Charge Turbo solution.

Fast charging is a must have feature in today's phones. However, Weibing has taken to Weibo to announce that Super Charge Turbo is already in mass production by the Redmi team.
