The Israeli army claimed that an explosive device was thrown at an Israeli patrol, securing settlers' visit to Joseph's Tomb, from inside a vehicle to which Israeli soldiers responded by opening live fire, killing Hamdan and Nuri.

It gave no details about the circumstances of the night-time shooting.

The murder of Ahmad Manasra occurred a day after Israeli forces shot three other Palestinians and wounded more than 10 in the West Bank.

It said that this bias exposes the false United States claims on achieving Palestinian-Israeli peace.
