Queen and Kate open Bush House at King's College London

The royal duo officially reopened Grade II-listed Bush House at the top United Kingdom university, which previously served as the headquarters for BBC World Service.

However, Tuesday marked a turning point in the Duchess's royal career when she carried out her first ever solo public engagement with The Queen, outside of Buckingham Palace.

The royals visited King's College London to take a look at the newly renovated Bush House, with the pair stopping to take in the incredible views from the roof terraces on the eighth floor of the building.

The public outing marked Middleton's first event alone with Queen Elizabeth II since she and Prince William Wednesday in 2011, E! Meanwhile, her sartorial opposite, Queen E, contrasted in a pastel pink look by Stewart Parvin. Royal reporter Emily Andrews shared that Middleton wore a gray belted bespoke Catherine Walker coat dress, which she accessorized with a black hat, black clutch, black suede heels and black tights.

Kate, who remained in the same outfit for her second duty of the day, gave a speech at museum, saying: "I am passionate about improving children's life chances and giving them opportunities, so that they can look forward to the best possible futures, fulfil their whole potential, and have the freedom to explore their creativity".

Kate has been named patron of The Foundling Museum, in London, making it her third alliance with museums in the UK. Both Middleton and the Queen signed the visitor's book as well.

Later in the day, Kate also paid her second visit to the Foundling Museum to examine how they use art to help vulnerable and marginalised young people.

In her biography, Kate: An Autobiography, Marcia Moody revealed that Prince William turned around to greet them and: said "just a quiet family wedding then". She previously visited the college in 2012 and 2002.
