'Game of Thrones' Actor Compares Trump to Ruthless Boy-King

"My darkest period was when the show seemed to become so much about Jon, when he died and came back", he tells Variety. Crazy Rich Asians, the breakout rom-com of past year, is guaranteed for some laughs, and Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman manages to make infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan look like a damn good time. "I had felt very unsafe, and I wasn't talking to anyone", Harington said.

Now, comfortable with his work, he's ready to step out of the furs, swords and long, curly hair of Jon Snow. You realise, well, there isn't more.

Harington, the cover star of Variety's latest issue, echoed the point in the cover shoot video as he lamented how "the world has changed since we started the show and yeah, we've found a Joffrey at the head of one of the most powerful countries in the world". "I felt a bit like people were coming in and out, and Jon Snow was just f-ing there the whole time". "I took off the costume, and it felt like my skin was being peeled away", he said.

Kit Harington will be forever grateful for his time on "Game of Thrones", but it had its downsides.

"I was there the whole time this year", Harrington revealed. "It felt like someone was shedding me of something". Let us not forget what show this is, just because he is thought to be the hero, doesn't mean he will have a happy ending, I mean, he may not even survive.

Season eight is the show's last season, and there could be some very upsetting deaths on the horizon. "I'm an actor in my own right, and that's a pretty good feeling", he added.

While Harington has always been a fixture on Game of Thrones, the 32-year-old has seen himself become the face of the franchise heading into its final season, something he admits was hard in a new interview with Variety.

As a follow-up to its unusual call for blood donations in celebration of Game of Thrones' final season, HBO has now launched the third phase of its "For the Throne" campaign with a treasure hunt of sorts.

David Nutter, a director for the show, assured fans each episode would be action packed. "I don't know what I could find more from this".

"[HBO] went balls out, I think is the term", he joked.
