Furthermore, the new wireless headset supports hands-free "Hey Siri" functionality enabling users to make phone calls, ask for directions, or simply change songs without touching anything. For some, the list of new features might have brought joy, but others probably saw a potential drawback from packing so much tech into the AirPods 2.

For the second generation AirPod with a standard charging case, local consumers will be able to obtain them for RM 699 which is RM 50 more than the first generation AirPods prior to the launch of the new model.

For those who have been waiting for the second generation AirPods to ship, Apple has announced the new hardware today.

South Africa is now in Stage 4 load shedding due to a shortage in capacity which could potentially last until Wednesday. Stage 5 and 6 load-shedding require 5,000MW and 6,000MW to be shed from the grid respectively.

The long wait for AirPods update is over, and it is well worth it. The long-awaited wireless charging feature is finally available with the new Wireless Charging Case. Similar to the previous AirPods, a quick 15-minute charge is enough to provide up to 3 hours of listening time.

The updated AirPods contain the new H1 chip, which is created to ensure a stable connection to the smartphone, says Apple, something that still proves hard for many manufacturers of truly wireless earbuds. A standalone Wireless Charging Case can be bought for $79/£79/AU$129 separately. Again, they're completely cable free, drawing battery from a pillbox-like charging case, with stem-like protrusions from the buds. If you switch between devices often, the new AirPods is two times faster to connect than the previous model that uses the W1 chip.

With the new Wireless Charging Case, charging is as simple as placing the AirPods case on a Qi-compatible charging mat. You should also get five hours of listening from a single charge and 24 hours when you factor in the charging case, although the fine print does say Apple's testing was done at half volume. The new wireless case comes with an LED light so that you'll know that it's charging at a glance.
