50% Americans believe the Mueller probe is a 'witch hunt'

A new poll, administered by Suffolk University and USA Today and published on Monday, found that half of Americans believe that President Donald Trump is the victim of a "witch hunt", illustrating what appears to be a downward trend in trust regarding Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Surveys have consistently shown that a strong majority of Americans think President Donald Trump should stop tweeting.

But others noted that the poll seems dubious - in particular, the question that led to headline-making result seems quite poorly worded.

"Finally, the voting public and Congress agree on something", David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center in Boston, said in a statement.

And that is before Mueller releases his findings. There are now more Americans who believe the president's denials that he colluded with Russian Federation.

Apple quietly announces 10.5-inch iPad Air and refreshed iPad mini
Both models can shoot video up to 1080p and have Lightning ports for charging - USB-C is left to the iPad Pro lineup. Unlike the new iPad Air , it doesn't support a Smart Keyboard but you can always pair a Bluetooth keyboard with it.

- Twenty-eight percent thought the House should seriously consider impeaching President Trump, while almost 62 percent opposed impeachment.

A similar margin - 48.5 to 46 percent - said they believe congressional Democrats are "doing the right thing" by aggressively pursuing investigations into Trump and his administration.

Voters also split over whether they support the president's denial that no collusion occurred between his 2016 campaign and Russian Federation, with 43 percent saying they had "a lot" or "some" trust in Trump's claim, compared to 52 percent who reported "little or no trust". By comparison only 28% say they trust that Mueller's investigation is fair and accurate. I also think President Trump has helped himself by unequivocally denouncing the Democrats and the the Mueller investigation, on Twitter and elsewhere.

Wow! A Suffolk/USA Today Poll, just out, states, "50% of Americans AGREE that Robert Mueller's investigation is a Witch Hunt".

Mueller has obtained guilty pleas and convictions against five of the six Trump aides charged so far, including Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, 2016 campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and former national security advisor Michael Flynn. Pelosi's comments against impeachment influenced the opinion of 41 percent of Democrats compared to 42 percent who said her comments had no impact. A significant share of the public will probably look at Mueller's final report with a skeptical eye, but probably not quite as many as suggested by the Suffolk-USA Today poll.
