Trump attacks McCain over dossier, Meghan McCain swipes back

"The View" host Meghan McCain was gunning for President Donald Trump on Monday's episode, claiming that her late father was "his kryptonite" in both life and death. John McCain on Sunday of working with the Democrats during the 2016 presidential election by giving the Christopher Steele dossier to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and media, in the hope that it would be printed and help defeat Mr. Trump. "It's abhorrent behavior", host Joe Scarborough stated.

When Trump launched another attack Sunday, McCain's daughter said, "My father lives rent free in your head", in a tweet that later appeared to have been deleted. "No, the media's just after Donald Trump.' You just look at their children and you wonder this is the example that their children are being given from their parents and you wonder how those kids are going to grow up, how's the generation going to grow up", Scarborough continued. McCain went on to say that when her father was alive, they spent their days "really celebrating life", but Trump doesn't seem to want to do that. "He had far worse 'stains" than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace [on Obamacare] after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!" Even the Fake News refused this garbage!, the president wrote on Sunday. CNN's John King noted that Graham put out a statement praising McCain's legacy and service to his country, while never once calling out Trump personally for continuing to insult him even after his death past year.

Trump also slammed McCain Saturday for his vote against a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act on the Senate floor in July 2017. "Because Lindsey is crawling to the president so that he can get re-elected, and Trump is acting like a sadist towards Lindsey Graham, putting him between a rock and a hard place and saying, 'OK, bow to me even more now'".

In a response on Saturday, McCain urged the president to spend his weekend with his family instead of "obsessing" over hers.

Behar then slammed Graham for not directly condemning Trump in his attempt to defend McCain.

Trump simply responded with a tweet saying "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!".

Trump again went after John McCain on Twitter for a second day on Sunday, citing court papers purportedly showing that the never-Trump Republican senator had a bigger than previously thought role spreading the since-discredited Steele dossier to USA intelligence services and the media. During the 2016 GOP presidential primaries, Mr. Trump suggested McCain wasn't a war hero because he got caught.
