Miami Dolphins trade Ryan Tannehill to Titans for draft picks

Miami Dolphins trade Ryan Tannehill to Titans for draft picks

Tannehill's agency, SportsTrust Advisors, announced the move on Twitter.

Miami will get a 2020 fourth round pick and a seventh round pick in this year's draft in exchange for Tannehill.

The Dolphins faced an uphill battle to flip Ryan for assets, given his bloated cap figure, so getting anything in return for him is a win for Miami.

Tannehill, in all likelihood, was going to be released by the Dolphins this offseason, pending what they could figure out in the quarterback market.

When the Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll was first run in December, O'Rourke placed third, the top choice of 11 percent. Mr O'Rourke has represented Texas' 16 congressional district for three terms in the US House of Representatives.

Teddy Bridgewater, an injured Miami Northwestern High graduate whom the Dolphins had courted, signed this week with the New Orleans Saints. The only two on the depth chart are Luke Falk, a rookie from Washington state; and Jake Rudock, a three-year veteran out of MI. Tannehill was named the team's Ed Block Courage Award recipient in 2018 and the Dan Marino Team MVP in 2014.

Tannehill was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 draft.

Tannehill is expected to replace Blaine Gabbert as the backup to Tennessee's Marcus Mariota. Both have had minimal playing time under center.
