Facebook and Instagram Down in Global Outage

On the website Downdetector.com, there were "problems at Facebook".

Facebook said last night it was was aware of issues on its family of apps.

Photo-sharing app Instagram announced it was back up and running, but users are still having difficulty accessing Facebook, according to Down Detector.

It is unclear when the outage will be resolved.

If you can't post a new status on Facebook, it's not you.

Facebook is experiencing the worst outage in its history, with essential services left unusable for global users.

Facebook is now down with people all around the globe having difficulty accessing the world's largest social network.

It's interesting to note just how many social network sites we use that are owned by Facebook though.

Today, we're reporting that Aussies are once again calling their local authorities due to a social media outage, which is affecting users globally.

"Up and running here.for now.But I predict a baby boom in 9 months, Remember that day FB went down and people were forced to notice each other?", this person wrote. Some users saw a message that said Facebook was down for "required maintenance".

A dedicated denial of service attack, or DDoS attack, is when someone floods a website with fake traffic causing the site's performance to suffer when there are not enough resources for real traffic. We are now being told that this BGP Routing issues was not related to the outage.

Regulators, and now prosecutors, appear intent on determining whether this was done in ways that let users know what was happening and protected privacy. However, users across the globe have complained about not being able to access the site.
