Google Allo Shutting Down Today: How to Download Chat Messages, Media

If you used Allo, now is the time to get your chat data before it's gone forever.

Google Allo, the search giant's smart-messaging app, is shutting down Tuesday. We've learned a lot from Allo, particularly what's possible when you incorporate machine learning features, like the Google Assistant, into messaging. Google has revealed that the company will officially shut down Allo today i.e., March 12.

Previously, Google only said that Allo would go away in March, but a banner on the Allo website makes it clear this is it. Earlier this year we paused investment in Allo and brought some of its most-loved features-like Smart Reply, GIFs and desktop support-into Messages.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Runtimes Reportedly Revealed
Are you excited for Game of Thrones? "I'm very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too". The report stated that while Episode 1 and 2 would be around 60 minutes each, the next four will be approximately 80.

"Export media" lets you drag down all your photos, videos and other data. All of your messages will be completely deleted, though conversations you've had with Google Assistant will remain stored on Google's servers (you can delete them if you wish). Any media attachments you sent - such as pictures - will be downloaded in zip format.

It's time to say goodbye to Allo! You can install the app on your current phone, restore the backup (as long as you have the same mobile number), and then follow the steps mentioned above. Exporting media will save photos, videos and other files.

Allo was launched back in 2016 alongside Google's first-party video calling app, Duo.

Google never really made the case for why people should move to Allo, and consumers the world over didn't sit around waiting for it.
