Bayern overtake Dortmund to lead German Bundesliga

"We could have scored even more goals".

Borussia Dortmund beat a struggling Stuttgart side 3-1 but Niko Kovac's team collected their 12th win in 13 league games to ensure they became the new league leaders on goal difference.

Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Mueller were all in the starting lineup of Bayern on Saturday, only days after they were dropped from the national team.

Kimmich's stepovers left Arnold dazzled and Muller pulled the ball back for Gnabry to nudge in from close range, the winger then creating a second goal within three minutes.

"We are now where we wanted to be in the top of the table - we want to stay there".

Now that they are no longer top, Borussia Dortmund can go into games without that pressure of being favorites and rediscover the form that earned them so many plaudits this season.

And although Dortmund got back in front against Stuttgart, Kimmich and Lewandowski added late headers from Ribery centres to boost Bayern's more impressive goal difference further.

Despite some dogged Stuttgart defending, Dortmund took the lead at Signal Iduna Park when Reus netted a penalty on 62 minutes.

The strike was Lewandowski's 16th Bundesliga goal of the season, extending his incredible record against Wolfsburg.

"We tried everything and managed it, we ran a lot and defended a lot, but all in all, the win was deserved".

Moise Kean scored a brace as Juventus warmed up for next week's Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid by easing past Udinese 4-1 to open a 19-point lead at the top of Serie A on Friday.

Third placed Leipzig played out a goalless stalemate with Augsburg, and Borussia Monchengladbach returned to winning ways after beating Mainz 1-0.
