C.J. Mosley to become NFL's highest-paid inside linebacker

C.J. Mosley to become NFL's highest-paid inside linebacker

The New York Jets have been aggressive at the start of free agency, adding key pieces on both sides of the ball as they look to keep spending their $82M+ in cap space. Mix Quinnen Williams in via the draft at No. 3 (just hypothetically) along with Jamal Adams on the backend and it's pretty easy to fall in love with this Jets defense as long as Gregg Williams isn't pulled away by one of his 92 handwritten head coaching offers before he can coach them up. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero via Pro Football Talk, Detroit is one of several teams interested in signing former Baltimore Ravens linebacker C.J. They now have five starting-caliber linebackers, with Mosley, Avery Williamson and Darron Lee inside and Barr and Jordan Jenkins outside.

"The Jets envision Mosley, 26, as an inside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme and the leader of the front seven". Kuechly is the only player who can match those numbers over the past five seasons.

Mosley has been named to the Pro Bowl the past three seasons and four of his five seasons in the NFL.

Ex-Patriots TE Dwayne Allen Joining Another AFC East Squad
Allen was a cap casualty in New England as he was under contract for $7 million cap hit which is why the Patriots released him. He was targeted only 26 times as a receiver in his two years in New England and caught 13 of those targets for 113 yards.

The four-time All-Pro agreed to a five-year, $85 million deal with the New York Jets on Tuesday morning, according to multiple media reports.

He was the second-best free agent linebacker on NFL.com's list of the 101 best free agents, behind only Minnesota's Barr. Mosley is a great player. It's a lot of money but there's also been a lot of years between playoff appearances for the Jets, who haven't reached the playoffs since 2010.

NY desperately needed help on defense.
