Three-time world track cycling champion Kelly Catlin dies aged 23

"She got this idea [about suicide], which may have been related to her concussion. She had suffered a concussion a few months ago and had not been the same mentally ever since", Christine said.

USA Cycling president Rob DeMartini announced news of Catlin's death on Sunday.

"My heart aches for the family today, but people don't fully understand how dark & scary [traumatic brain injuries]/concussions can be", he wrote on Twitter.

Here's what you need to know. I'm so sorry, Kelly.

Olympic cyclist Kelly Catlin, who helped the USA cycling team win silver in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games, has died at the age of 23 by suicide.

Caitlin attended the University of Minnesota and earned a degree in Chinese and biomedical engineering.

Jed Allan, ' Beverly Hills 90210' And Soap Opera Star, Dies At 84
Allan's long career in soaps included stints on " Days of Our Lives ", in which he played Don Craig, and " Santa Barbara " as C.C. After that, the actor joined the cast of " Beverly Hills, 90210 " as Rush Sanders, the father of Steve played by Ian Ziering .

VeloNews reported that Catlin's father, Mark, said in a letter to the publication that she died on Friday night at her home in California. Her success also showed them what is possible. "There was no goal". This was a person with depression. "She described being tortured mentally by not being able to do what she used to do". "We called police the moment we got the e-mail, and they got there in time to save her that time". "We were all searching for the magic words, that life was worth living". Then she tried to commit suicide in January ... she had written this lengthy email [to her family] and said her thoughts were racing all the time.

Catlin also won individual pursuit bronze at both the 2017 and 2018 World Track Championships.

"There isn't a minute that goes by that we don't think of her and think of the wonderful life she could have lived", Mark wrote to VeloNews. "I still fail", she wrote. "This year we're going to consider how NorthStar can best deal with concussions in our sport".

If you like this story, share it with a friend! Everything was open to her, but somehow her thinking was changed and she couldn't see beyond, I guess, her depression.

"We were all very proud of Kelly, " Townsend said. We were concerned. She ran herself down. "You were special, with or without the results". I was having a really sad feeling about that.

Kelly Catlin's description of track cycling wasn't romantic. We witnessed her and all of her talent and strength come up through local races as junior, cheering our faces off. She was also member of the team that took the silver medal at the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
