Last year Windows 10 overtook the older Windows 7.

The milestone put Windows 10 at the 80% mark toward a goal the company once pledged but subsequently discarded.

The organization is at present settling its most recent Windows 10 refresh, code-named "19H1" which is required to achieve the current machines in front of occasion leaving space for Microsoft to feature new highlights in its up and coming Windows 10 discharge planned for in the not so distant future.

Although Windows 7's support retirement is just 312 days away, the OS stubbornly clings to a position of power, a place it seems to have little desire to relinquish. The organization reported in September 2018 that more than 700 million gadgets were running Windows 10, showing it had won 100 million new users in under a half year. Right now, Windows 10 is installed on just over 40 percent of PCs worldwide, while Windows 7 still retains just over 38 percent of the market. According to Microsoft's schedule, Windows 7 will stop receiving updates in January 2020, so customers are recommended to begin planning the upgrade to Windows 10 and complete the transition before the deadline is reached. It means the operating system is easily the world's most popular, trailed slightly by Windows 7.
