Idris Elba should be Deadshot

A week after reports surfaced that Will Smith wouldn't be returning for Suicide Squad 2, Variety now reports that Warner Bros. has set their sights on Idris Elba. Now we have our answer.

Unfortunately, we don't know much about the sequel, but we do know that it will feature an nearly entirely new cast. The site adds that Elba was Gunn and the studio's "first and only choice" for the role. The report suggests that the studio is really excited with the script penned down by James Gunn.

But his character, Floyd Lawton / Deadshot, will make a return. Smith, along with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, led the ensemble of the 2016 movie and played assassin anti-hero Deadshot.

It's not yet clear whether Joel Kinnaman's character Rick Flagg is in the mix; sources contributing to THR's Elba piece provided conflicting accounts on that front.

There are no big surprises as pretty much everything has leaked ahead of the Samsung Unpacked event. The company announced new Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds and two new fitness wearables.

At this point, it's still unknown whether Robbie or Leto will be brought in for the sequel. But that changed recently, and she might be back after all.

The 46-year old actor will also play a villain in the Fast and Furious spinoff, Hobbs And Shaw, alongside stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham. More often than not, he ends up in lame supporting parts, or leading major disappointments like The Dark Tower.

After Smith's exit was confirmed last week, Justin Kroll of Variety indicated that Warner Bros was still deciding that Warner Bros were still thoughtful whether to recast Deadshot or not.

This is probably the best kind of news for The Suicide Squad. Here's hoping Gunn is able to turn things around. It's a great concept - in theory.
