King Kong Bundy dead at 61

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned wrestling legend King Kong Bundy passed away this afternoon. The 1.93m, 208kg wrestler made his World Wrestling Federation debut in 1981. A year later, Bundy headlined WrestleMania 2, challenging for Hulk Hogan's WWE Championship inside of a steel cage at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

There is no word on how he died. The news was first confirmed by friend and long-time promoter David Herro.

Today we lost a Legend of a performer and someone that I considered family.

The star added that in his retirement, he really didn't miss wrestling all that much.

After spending a few years working in various wrestling territories, Bundy joined the WWE (then WWF) in early 1985.

The sole victor , who wishes to remain anonymous, submitted a claim for the prize today, according to SC lottery officials. It adds that the victor has chosen the cash option, a one-time payment of almost 878,000,000 USA dollars (£666 million).


Bundy was recently part of a lawsuit brought against WWE in 2016 that alleged the company hadn't taken care of their performers properly when it came to neurological and concussion-based injures.

In their own statement, the WWE said, "WWE extends its condolences to Bundy's family, friends and fans". The event would nevertheless go down as one of wrestling's most iconic moments.

Bundy also did some acting, most notably as Uncle Irwin on a 1987 episode of Married...

The Atlantic City New Jersey native was due to appear at WrestleCon in April in NY. He Tweeted about the appearance just hours before his death.
