Maguire: Leicester players excited to work with Rodgers

Former Celtic and current Lyon striker Moussa Dembele was not among them, the French striker posting a series of sarcasting tweets - accompanied by gifs -about his thoughts on Rodgers' decision to trade Celtic Park for the King Power in the middle of the season.

Cue the predictable barrage of snake emoji's on social media, and more accusations of player power, after Leicester extended Brighton's worrying run of results.

"From the moment I walked into Celtic Park I have been living my dream and, together with the players, staff and supporters, we have been on an fantastic journey, which I will never forget".

"I'm very privileged and honoured to be here as Leicester City manager and I'll give my life to make the supporters proud of their club", Rodgers, who left his post at Celtic to take over the Foxes, said in a team statement. It's exciting times. We know he's coached a lot of young players and we hope he can bring them on - we're all excited.

However, some have taken it that step further by urging Rodgers to offer Leicester's star men in return for Liverpool's second-string players.

The news that he will be replaced, on an interim basis at the moment, by Levein's former derby counterpart Neil Lennon, was greeted as good news by the Gorgie manager who is happy to see his old nemesis back in the game so soon after his Easter Road departure, but he doesn't believe it will impact one way or the other on this evening's fixture.

"A number of years ago, Leicester probably would have been on a lower level than Celtic but now, after winning that league a couple of years ago, and the history they are building up, you could say they are on a par". I will be doing all I can to continue the great work that has gone on in recent years.

'Celtic are a massive club so it shows how big Leicester are getting and our ambitions. His achievements are historic. 'We all know his profile and what he's done. He has dominated Scottish football and ensured that Celtic has enjoyed unprecedented domestic success.

"Celtic will always be my Club and I wish everyone connected to Celtic - the Board of Directors, the staff and, of course, the Celtic supporters - every success in the future".
