Feisty Feinstein Tells Schoolkids She Won't Be Lectured on Green New Deal

"Any plan that doesn't take bold, transformative action is not going to be what we need", one young woman said.

"I'll tell you what", Feinstein began her response.

In a press release Friday, Feinstein said: "Unfortunately, it was a brief meeting but I want the children to know they were heard loud and clear".

Sen. Dianne Feinstein disagreed with a group of schoolchildren over climate change Friday and saw a video of the tense exchange hit the Internet, CNN reports. Atmospheric physics doesn't really care if you have good intentions but lack the political courage to actually address the problem.

Even though there is now little chance that the Republican party will take interest in supporting measures to address climate change, supporters of the Green New Deal hope the early ideas and legislation of the deal will light the path for fully developed policies ready to be implemented that Democrats can act on if they win the 2020 presidential election.

"So I think though the conversation wasn't fully what I expected it to be", said Nadja, 15.

Kelly Pleads Not Guilty to All 10 Counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse
Prosecutors say that Kelly met another 16-year-old girl whom he would later victimize during his 2008 child pornography trial. The Grammy-winning R&B singer spent the weekend in jail and showed up for Monday's hearing in an orange jail jumpsuit.

Ocasio-Cortez unveiled her solution to climate change, the Green New Deal, which would mobilize the entire US economy to ensure that 100 percent renewable energy would be produced and Carbon dioxide emissions would be greatly reduced. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey's (D-MA) plan referenced a United Nations report which said that catastrophic climate change could cost more than $500 billion annually in lost economic output by 2100.

"The key to legislation is to tailor something that you can write so that it can pass", Feinstein says.

Feinstein told the gaggle of students that she doesn't support the deal, mainly because there is "no way to pay for it". She offered to provide copies for each child and asked them to review it and let her know if they see issues.

"I've gotten elected. I just ran", she continues. "I always welcome the opportunity to hear from Californians who feel passionately about this issue and it remains a top priority of mine".

"(She) will do an internship here", Feinstein tells a staff member, after asking for the woman's name.

Even though the Green New Deal faces vast support overall from the Democratic party, there is still heavy debate between Democrats underlining the vision this deal would take on if Democrats are able to take on the platform beyond the 2020 election. The congresswoman joined climate change activists in a protest outside the office of now-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) during the very first day of her freshman orientation on Capitol Hill back in November. Republicans believe that the leftward push on climate change would result in the further isolation of Democrats from certain places in America where right-wing policies hold most influence. Many scientists theorize that greenhouse gases may be a major contributor to the notion of man-made climate change.
