A supermoon is a full moon that coincides with the Earth's elliptic orbit so that the Moon is as close to the earth as it comes during its orbit. And perhaps that's the reason why many people have tagged it with different catchy names such as "snow moon" or even the "super snow moon" of this year.

Sky-gazers have sent in their pictures of yesterday's super snow moon spectacular.
