Genesis Open: McIlroy climbing, Woods struggling

Tiger Woods has explained this week's Genesis Open is "definitely testing" his body again after an injury-plagued last five years.

And just like that, it stalled.

Woods' 36-hole score of one under par (70-71) was tied for 57th when he walked off Riviera Country Club's 9th green on Saturday morning, but a full half of the field still had its second round to complete in ideal scoring conditions.

After getting to 3 under for his round through seven holes and to 10 under for the tournament, Woods could not manage another birdie the rest of the way, playing his last 11 holes in 4 over par and settling for a 1-over-par 72.

"I am not seeing the line", Woods said. But to be honest with you, it was one of the worst weeks I've ever had on the greens. More specifically, three-putts were. And to have that many 3-putts and still shoot 6 under par - take away those 3-putts, I'm 12 under par. Ever the grinder, Woods read his putt from every possible angle before making a confident stroke and putting it right in the heart of the cup. Hopefully I can find it in here in the last couple rounds. Woods never hit a shot on Thursday, which meant long days throughout the weekend. J.B. Holmes was nine under for the tournament having played 14 holes, while a number of players were still in the early stages of their second rounds. And then 28 holes Sunday to finish the third round and play the final 18 holes. That was positive, and I got off to a nice little roll.

Afterward, Woods, 43, understandably looked like a guy who was worn out. It'll mark his first time competing at Golf Club de Chapultec, and normally on such a week he'd use Monday to familiarize himself with the grounds.

Miller, however, suggested that the USA needed screeners "at that same density across every inch and mile of the southern border". Hewitt did not offer a prediction as to whether Trump would prevail in the courts and many expect a long legal battle to ensue.

"I couldn't feel my toes", he said. "It was a long week". They are staying in there; they're not moving. Woods' relationship with Riviera is a complicated one-it's the site of his first-ever PGA Tour start, when he was a scrawny 16-year-old in 1992, but it's also the course he's played the most without a victory.

"You saw what I did past year, I missed the cut here and I had to add an event, " he said.

Woods just missed the fairway with his shot off the 12th tee, and his second shot left him 21 feet from the hole. His total putts of 117 was not awful, and he did have three rounds in which he had less than 30 per round.

"Can't get any worse than it was the first day; four three-putts is as bad as a human being can putt".

"All of us have to deal with it", Woods said. "They're pushing us to get through it. Give us a bag lunch and we're off".
