Hyypia: Liverpool okay without Van Dijk for Bayern Munich

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has conceded that Bayern Munich will have to survive the Anfield test in order to have any chance of getting through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Liverpool's expense.

The Liverpool defender was left behind when the squad flew out for their training camp in Spain to continue his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury that he sustained against Wolves in the FA Cup 3rd Round last month.

Now, the Liverpool boss has provided another update today and revealed that he's planning to be without Lovren for the game next week.

After the first on Tuesday, the Reds will travel to the Allianz Arena on March 13 for the second leg tie.

'He is not here for good reasons, because he can not be part of training.

Liverpool have a shortage of defensive options ahead of their last-16 game against Bayern with Joe Gomez having undergone surgery for a leg fracture and Virgil Van Dijk unavailable to play due to suspension.

"We are back on Friday".

Top US admiral in Middle East warns of growing Iranian threat
The unrest came amid soaring inflation and unemployment as Iran braced for a likely USA exit from a landmark 2015 nuclear deal. Bolton said Washington would support "the will of the Iranian people, & stand behind them to ensure their voices are heard".

The Dutch worldwide has been working away from the main squad during their time in Marbella this week but Wijnaldum trained today so should be back in contention to face Bayern on Tuesday night.

"It's always being said that we're the big favourite", Klopp told Sky Sport. "If he wants to join us, we'd welcome him to our team", Mane said.

"Of course, we have to prepare it differently". If Dejan gives a sign on Monday - "I feel brilliant" - then we'd have to think anew.

'But in the moment we prepare the game and in this preparation Dejan is not involved.

The No. 5 could therefore start in midfield, perhaps alongside Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita, with Fabinho possibly required to fill in at centre-back.

"So we talk about the attacking players City have at the other end, Liverpool can nearly match them I would say, but in terms of Van Dijk, Liverpool have the best defender".
