OnePlus 5G Smartphone prototype to be showcased during MWC 2019

OnePlus 5G Smartphone prototype to be showcased during MWC 2019

Ausdroid will be there in person to check out this prototype, given that we have been invited and we love OnePlus devices and the people associated with them.

The key growth driver for the brand in United States of America during the quarter was its partnership with one of the biggest network carriers, T-Mobile during the launch of OnePlus 6T. It is worth noting that OnePlus will be located at Qualcomm's stand, not its own, so you will be able to find its 5G prototype at Qualcomm's booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10). And the fact that OnePlus' 5G smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and the Snapdragon X50 model, it makes complete sense to tie-up with Qualcomm. Other than OnePlus, Samsung is reportedly also planning to develop a 5G-capable phone. Since OnePlus is teasing the gaming experience, we assume that this smartphone will have quite some power to impress the audience, perhaps, OnePlus next flagship will come with a certain focus in the gaming industry. Today the Chinese company confirmed that its MWC event is directly related with the 5G OnePlus handset.

Hopefully anyway. There's no telling what changes might be made to the phone between now and release, and what's on show might not anything like what goes on sale later this year. Rumors say the highest-end variant of the Galaxy S10 lineup will feature 5G connectivity.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered: trailer and release date
In other news, Assassin's Creed III Remastered also received an official release date a day or two ago: the 29th March 2019. It seems as though previous rumors surrounding Assassin's Creed 3's remaster hitting the Switch are so far unfounded.

While we now don't know what OnePlus' first 5G smartphone will be called, we do know that it's definitely coming.

He did mention, however, that OnePlus has been developing 5G devices since "as early as late 2016", adding that his team had already conducted a 5G test at Qualcomm's headquarters in San Diego back in August. Reports suggest that at the MWC event OnePlus will just showcase the 5G phone and will officially launch the device later in the year.

Pei didn't confirm when we'd be seeing the device, but rumours are pointing to an unveiling at next year's MWC.
