Is Max Verstappen predicting a slow start for Honda and Red Bull?

After a year of Honda experience with Toro Rosso last year and a season with Japanese manufacturer in Super Formula in 2017, Gasly is looking forward to continuing the relationship at the senior Red Bull team.

However, Red Bull have previous in teasing fans with maverick designs that were only used in pre-season testing, only to revert to a more conventional look in time for the opening race of the season.

Red Bull parted company with engine partners Renault at the end of 2018, switching to Honda, who also provide power units for sister team Toro Rosso.

The auto will be driven by Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly this year after Daniel Ricciardo opted to leave the team to join Renault over the winter.

Max Verstappen drove the RB15 around the circuit and although his team-mate Gasly was also at the track, he will have to wait until pre-season testing kicks off next week at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona to get his hands on the vehicle.

Renault launch 2019 auto intent on reeling in F1 big three
Australian Ricciardo ended his lengthy association with Red Bull to make his surprise move to Renault. We should have the motorhome and the coffee machine working but that's as far as I'm 100% sure.

Red Bull's new vehicle was unveiled on the same day as defending champions Mercedes, who the team will hope they can wrestle both championships off in the upcoming season.

And on Wednesday, they gave us the first glimpse of the challenger - in a dramatic camouflage-style livery instead of the team's familiar racing colours - they hope can take the fight to Mercedes and Ferrari.

"I was really excited to jump in the vehicle and as soon as we got going it felt pretty normal", he said. "I really want to feel how it upshifts, downshifts, how the drivability is, how much power there is". Now we can go testing properly, we'll see what we can get out of that and we'll be able to understand the auto and the engine a bit better.

"I've had the chance to have spent two years with Honda already", Gasly said.

"At the moment I am of course very optimistic, but also realistic". For sure there will be moments where as a team we'll make mistakes or it's maybe not going as we want it to.
