Several people were of the view that while she was claiming that designers didn't want to dress her, the actual problem was that she wasn't getting a dress for "free". "I just did the [Instagram] video because I was really heartbroken and it bummed me out because they said I was too big or fat", she told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

Monsoori has previously dressed stars such as singers Kesha and Kelly Rowland, and actress Ashley Greene.
